Vinarija Jelovečki
About us

Our Story

A family winery growing slowly, step by step — from the first bottle made in a garage to our own cellar with a tasting room.

Beginnings in a garage

Krešimir Jelovečki, MSc in Economics, starts the winery together with his father in the village of Budenec near Sesvete. The first wine is made literally in a garage, following handwritten instructions on paper.

The first harvests, white wines only

In the early years the winery produces only white wines — Kraljevina and Graševina — mainly for the family's own needs. Every harvest brings new knowledge and experience.

Two Tomislavs, one passion

Neighbour Tomislav Šereg, owner of the boutique winery Šereg, becomes a friend and reignites Krešimir's passion for wine. Enologist Tomislav Hrešć plays an equal part — as a mentor, his knowledge and experience shape both Krešimir and Šereg. Soon the range expands to red wines and blends.

The winery gets a proper wine cellar with a tasting room, and the range is joined by the semi-sweet Muškat Žuti — the first aromatic wine in the lineup.

Champion of the Exhibition

At the 20th Zagreb County Wine Exhibition, the 2025 Muškat Žuti was named Champion of the Exhibition, while Graševina and Cabernet Sauvignon Barrique each brought home a gold diploma of their own. Three golds in a single day — the winery's biggest success yet.

Step by step towards perfection

Vinarija Jelovečki continues to grow slowly and deliberately — staying true to its family roots while remaining open to new knowledge and innovation.

Everyday life in the cellar — from bottling to the youngest family members already lending a hand.

Our philosophy

"We go slowly, step by step towards perfection" — the sentence that best describes Krešimir Jelovečki's approach to wine. Without rushing, with respect for tradition and openness to new knowledge, every harvest is a chance to learn and improve something new.
